Big Climb 2010.JPG

In our 2nd year at the Big Climb, we were 19 climbers strong; nearly double the amount we took last year!  Most of our repeat performers bested their previous time, all of the new comers easily conquered the 69 flights, and we managed to raise over $4,400 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society!  Official results can be found here

Congratulations to everyone who participated, and thank you to all of the donors who supported our team.  We hope to represent well again next year.

It's The Sound Of My Shoes

Any shoe with a compressible heel will not be a stable platform for any barbell movement with a ground-reaction component, since the first part of the force applied to the ground is absorbed in the shoe.  Weightlifting shoes form a stable position from which to drive, because they are built on a non-compressible wedge of wood or leather.  This makes them the single most useful piece of personal equipment you can own for the gym, and the only one that is really, honestly necessary.

Emily Sectionals.JPG

Congratulations to Emily who represented Urban CrossFit well at the Washington Sectionals for the CrossFit Games this past weekend.  She placed 18th overall, which qualifies her for the NorthWest Regional Qualifiers in May!  Thank you to everyone from the gym that made the commute to Monroe to show their support.  Hope to see you all in Puyallup in May!
